One Little Rat

One little rat caused a dike to collapse in England.  After the rodent had burrowed through the embankment of a canal, water began seeping through.  Slowly but surely, the original trickle became a sizeable stream.  Soon one bank collapsed and a forty-foot breakthrough let the water poured out in torrents.  Three million gallons of water escaped; the canal was trained for seven miles; more than a million fish were swept away and a twenty-foot gorge was channeled through a nearby field.  It took sixty men with bulldozers three weeks to shift thirty thousand tons of soil and repair the damages.
As one tiny rat caused such tremendous harm, so can one individual yield to sin start a chain reaction of destruction that will affect many people?  On the other hand, one believer who is committed to Christ can through a seemingly insignificant prayer, word, or deed have a far-reaching effect for good.
