Lighthouse Moment

If you give Mercy, you receive Mercy

In Melville's classic story, Moby Dick, captain Ahab hates the great whale Moby Dick, who has crippled him.  He’s obsessed with killing the whale no matter what.  Every waking hour, Ahab is consumed with tracking him down.

As the plot unfolds, it becomes obvious that Ahab, not Moby Dick, is the real victim.  Ahab is the one who is imprisoned, hunted and driven by hatred.  In the end, he kills everything around him-the whale, the crew, and himself.

How difficult things would have been for Ahab had he discovered the beauty of mercy, hating someone is hard work.  Being merciful allows one to grow and be creative.  If you give mercy, you receive mercy.  If you give no mercy, you receive no mercy.
